A New Office

For the last four years I have worked from home. In the beginning, it was partly due to cost-saving measures but also because I was out and about so much that I didn't see the point. Most days I wasn't there much, and the times I was, I actually really enjoyed it. The comfy clothes and cats as co-workers certainly didn't hurt the situation. But it's not just me anymore. For the last (almost) six months, Kate and I have had a hodgepodge work situation. Some days we would work around my dining room table, other days we'd work apart from our own homes, and other days we'd be with clients or on set. It has worked, but we know to be our most successful and collaborative we need to be together more in our own work space. Plus, it's one thing to ask your sister to work at your dining room table. I suspect as we continue to grow people will be less and less understanding about the whole no office thing.

All this is to say, we are moving into our first office on February 1. After a couple of months of looking we found the perfect place. It's about 1000 square feet and offers a large open space for us to work and hold events. We'll have a sitting area right when you walk in, then turn the corner to a conference room area, and then our desks. Through a door will be our restroom and DIY space.

As I write this, I'm on a (too bumpy for my liking) flight to Los Angeles. To take my mind off the turbulence I decided to begin the design of our sitting area. Our office will be full of inspiration both for us and our clients. I want people to walk in and feel like they could pick up everything in the office and place it in their own home. The space will be feminine but not overly girly. A mix of grit and grace. It will be full of things we love and artwork by artists we admire and call friends.

Watch for a lot more in the next step of our company. We'll be holding events and hosting some videos from the new space soon. Expect A LOT more photos of an office than you've ever wanted to see before. Trust me, this one is going to be extra special.
