Coneflowers was inspired by one of my first abstract flower paintings. I was experimenting with creating shapes with a sense of movement and interconnectedness that gave a feeling of abundance. That painting informed a lot of my work moving forward and is still a piece I feel very fondly about!

Remember when as a child you would find bugs and carry them around with you, marveling at the colors and shapes and oddities of form? I still do that. Some of the most beautiful things in life seem insignificant, small, and fleeting. I’m drawn to these creatures for the sheer beauty of them.

My paintings, characterized by gestural brushstrokes, evoke nostalgia and invite introspection through moody landscapes and florals. My work, offering a sense of calm, encourages viewers to reconnect with nature’s beauty and embrace every fleeting moment with open hearts.

PAIGE BARNES DORSEY
A few years ago I painted a dress inspired by my snake sculptures to wear to the 5 year anniversary party for Liz Lidgett Gallery. A fun little calling card, if you will, that says ‘I'm the snake lady.’ That dress sparked a conversation and I mentioned my vision of seeing that print on fabrics or wallpaper.

After curating the rest of this collection, I literally sat daydreaming in my kids’ playroom wishing it were prettier with a rainbow stripe wallpaper. When I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted—I asked Chasing Paper if I could add a print to the collection too to bring my vision to life, and that is how Watercolor Stripes came to be.

My inspiration always returns to nature. The cyanotype and landscape prints in this collection are rooted in the organic forms and quiet beauty found there. I hope these designs bring a sense of calm and a breath of peacefulness into the spaces they inhabit.

My travel photo albums are full of striped street signs. So many different colors and patterns but the feeling is the same: look here. The first time I put stripes on my wall it was a statement to myself that what’s on the inside is worth looking at. It’s worth others seeing. And after that first declaration it’s become easier and easier to make the bolder choice, to let my voice be heard. Bold design in my home makes me feel bolder in my life. It’s all connected. So for my first foray into wallpaper, what better way than to bring in stripes in an interactive manner. Play with the stripes and play with your walls.

ALY YTTERBERG
The inspiration for this print, and most of my work to be honest, comes from photos taken while driving through the American Midwest landscape. I’m drawn to old structures, linear fields, the human touch found in nature, and the stories that these places could tell if only they could talk. I am particularly intrigued by landscapes that might normally be overlooked or places that just kind of spark a little thought of having seen it before—a déjà vu moment. There’s a purposeful ambiguity of exact location when I design these landscapes and this is to allow the viewer’s imagination and memory bank to swirl. They seem to tell different stories to everyone that sees them. A unique connection to every viewer, that’s what I love!
