Holiday shop smalls are out the door and our next group show is in the works. This week’s show features new work from five women artists that all create incredibly dynamic works. Full of mixed media, layering and vibrant color, we’re excited to share it all with you. Opening this Friday, hop on presale before it sends out tomorrow morning!
We share the largest discount of the year during the Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Small Business Saturday stretch as a thank you for supporting our artists through the holidays. It’s a time that we really push for pieces to find forever homes and for artists to feel celebrated during the gift-giving season. My favorite thing is sending the email to an artist with the *long* list of works sold for the month. Thank you for being a big part of that. Through today, use code OVER750 for 15% off any cart total over $750.
When you support a small business, you support someone's dreams. Liz Lidgett Gallery was built almost six years ago when I saw potential in a heap of dirt on the ground. Tina created the logo we still use today and I called artists asking them to give us a chance. We accepted art at my house and lovingly staged it for our first photos because the gallery didn't have walls yet. We built this little baby of ours from nothing but a little (very little) money in my bank account and a couple of computers. This is a long, rambling way to say I am so thankful you support this small business, our dream. We have worked so hard to make this a wonderful space for our artists and clients and it means more than you know that you have helped us thrive. #smallbusiness #smallbusinesssaturday #smallbusinessowner
We call it our Super Bowl because Holiday Shop is the busiest week of the year. And this time around was no different. We are so grateful for how you support our artists and small business—thank you. We’ve sold 190 works (so far!), shipped to 32 states and supported over 40 artists in just six days. And to show our gratitude, we’re sharing a 15% discount with any cart total over $750 through Sunday—use code OVER750 at checkout. Happy holiday weekend, friends!
The lifecycle of these smalls at the gallery this weekend—it’s fun to see. Swipe through to see how it started! From our artists’ hands, to original gifts to our client’s doors. 📦🤍 The Holiday Shop is still full of goodies under $500! Thank you to everyone here who has supported and purchased already. We are truly grateful.
As a client told us today, “eat your Wheaties and take your vitamins” in preparation for tomorrow. And we’ll add to that—big cups of coffee in-hand. The Holiday Shop opens in less than 24 hours! And the team is excited to see you show up online (like you always do) tomorrow morning to buy art, celebrate the artists and support our small business.
Transforming an ordinary space (although still beautiful) into an explosion of personality. @suzy.lindow’s Roberto is doing the trick here! Sara is sharing more about how pops of color integrated with minimalist-style design is a great choice—minimalism doesn’t mean minimal color. We say bring it on. And if you like what you see here, Sara is sharing the furniture sources. On the blog!
Friends, I’m so excited to share a project we’ve been working on that invites our clients to become more engaged and more informed as a thank you for your continuous support. Announcing *drumroll please* … Gallery Insiders! Elevate your art collecting experience with free shipping, exclusive behind-the-scenes and inspiring art education for just $5/month. Plus, monthly art trend discussions for emerging artists. All the details on the website (plus a 20% discount if you join before midnight with code LAUNCHDAY)! It’s a big week over here, and we’re kicking it off with a bang.💥
Introducing a new artist to the gallery fam, @hayleysheldon! Based in West Palm Beach, Florida, Hayley creates unique pieces made by sewing directly into wood frames using fibers to create a translucent color field effect. The repetitive pattern and strong shapes make incredible installations—both on a flat wall or hanging. We’re so thrilled to share her beautiful creations with you. Her first few pieces will debut in the Holiday Shop next week!
ONE WEEK 🚨 from today the under $500 Holiday Shop collection will be live! Over 40 artists are participating with 250+ new pieces to share. We’re gearing up over here with a ridiculous amount of ribbon, paper and boxes. And because it happens every year, here’s our first thank you for supporting our artists in this big way during the holidays.
The highlights from @thehappilyeva’s guest curation continue! An art lover and collector all her life, Eva’s personal collection has a special story or meaning behind each piece. And she believes the works she included in the gallery curation can do the same—when the right person sees it. Thank you, Eva, for cheering on our artists!
The preview for these @elisasheehanart cuties will be in your inbox tomorrow morning. 📩 Her online release is Friday with six new pieces, all under $600. Elisa said she packed as much beauty as she could into these 6-inch works. And I can attest—she most certainly did. The jewel tones paired with gold are stunning.
I’ve been a fan of @thehappilyeva’s work for some time, and I had the great fortune to get to know her a few months ago during an advocacy trip in Washington, D.C. It quickly became clear that the Eva you see online is exactly who she is in person: kind, fun, effervescent, and with impeccable taste. I already knew Eva was a lover of the arts, and her recent line with @benchmademodern only deepened my admiration. I’m thrilled she took the time to curate an edit featuring works by our artists, and I know you’ll love her perspective as much as I do! Hop on the website to see her top art picks from the gallery.
The two week countdown is on ⏰🎊 for holiday shop featuring new art under $500! Over 200 works of art will be included with 38 of our artists participating. A forever passion project of ours to make original art more accessible, the holiday collection at a lower price point is a special time of year. Mark your calendars and more sneak peeks to come!
The last week of Mood Boards and I’m a little sad to see it go. It’s a nice way to mix it up—straying from the usual calculated spaces between each piece. If a certain style or piece caught your eye, here’s your last chance to claim it at an exclusive discount. Hop on the website and use code MOODBOARD15. And up next, a solo show featuring @akhardeman.art, debuting this Friday! The vibrant, abstract florals are very welcome in the midst of this dreary fall rain.
Art inspiration from this year’s Creative Retreat with @angelachrusciakiblehm at @theriverhouse.arts (which Angela curated herself!). They’re too good not to share. We also visited Angela’s home studio where she’s an avid art collector herself. How many gallery artists can you spot? More highlights on the blog! P.S. If you want to recreate Angela’s color block moment in her living room, we have two pieces at the gallery that can make it happen (the last few photos). And the kitty cameo makes it even better.
New work swimming in this week by @elsielarson! 🦢 Her latest collection of painted swans will be available this Friday, Nov. 1 at 10am CT. Starting at $480, there are a variety of sizes. She’s most known for her moth series here at the gallery, so we’re excited to share a new subject focus. And how lovely they are.
And that’s a wrap—the third and final day of the creative retreat. Starting with a paint workshop lead by @jessillustrator, a waterfall hike, a cocktail at @angelachrusciakiblehm’s studio (which is to die for—you’ll even spot @gina_julian!) and a birthday to celebrate. Creative inspiration was flowing and special memories were made. Where to next? ✈️🎨🖼️
Day two of this year’s Creative Retreat with @angelachrusciakiblehm hosted at @theriverhouse.arts. Full of art workshops, fireside chats and peeking in every corner of the house to not miss a single artful detail (spot Angela’s hand painted bedroom mural)! This group of women are giving their creative selves this weekend. The highlights are just not enough to share.
Keeping our art-loving friends close, we often work with designers, realtors and builders to elevate their space further with curated art. We recently popped over to a nearby listing with @tomstendercuster to give the home a special personality that may be missing in every other listing. Hop over to the blog to see how art-on-loan works with the gallery!
And the secret’s out! Liz and Tina are in Georgia with @angelachrusciakiblehm on this year’s Creative Retreat. Full of art workshops (with both Angela and @jessillustrator!), winery tours and inspiring surroundings. Follow along this weekend for more peeks. Plus, if you want to be on the next trip’s waiting list, send us your email!
And now Tina here, showing off the natural materials mood board. Promoting sustainability and a deep connection to nature, you’ll see work by @kristen.abbott.art, @elisasheehanart, @elianabernard and more. I love a textured neutral moment and have a good amount in my own home. See it all on the website (with an exclusive discount)!
Today our newest show, Mood Boards, opens to you all. This show gives a peak inside a designer’s process. Each vignette is a design mood board come to life showcasing an art collection for a room complete with textiles, wall coverings and furniture. Each collection features a different style and way to imagine building a room beginning with the art—quiet luxury, natural materials, English country and maximalist. Which one are you?
Captured at our recent @leatherology kick-off event. (While at this minute we’re running around getting tomorrow’s show ready.) But in case you’re new here, here’s the team that makes it happen! 👋🏼 The minds and hands behind the art curation, packaging and marketing. As part of the new show, you’ll be hearing from each one of us and our favorite mood board moments. Come back tomorrow for the full reveal! We’d love to hear what you think.
Dogs, rabbits, monkeys, oh my! 🐶 These hyperrealistic balloon animals by @gina_julian will go live next week. Painted completely flat, each one magically resembles a 3D balloon—with perfectly placed shadows and reflections. Can you believe it? The preview will be in your inbox this week to plan ahead if you’re dying to have one (like me).
We’re cooking up something really fun over here. Debuting this Friday, our next show features installed mood boards in four different interior styles to best showcase a collection of work. Alongside the art, you’ll see paired fabrics, wallpapers, furniture and more. We’ve never done something like this and I love seeing these paper notes come to life. The surroundings truly bring context and depth to each piece. And it was just fun to play. Come back Friday to see it all! And each collection will be available to purchase as a whole at a discount price.
It’s no surprise, you guys love @bekahworleyco. Wowza. This pile of boxes is headed out the door today from her Flower Show! But you haven’t missed out yet—there are two pieces still available. Thank you for supporting our artists, following along here and caring about art content. It gives me so much joy. Happy Friday, friends. 💐
It may seem like an uninteresting character, but somehow a beetle turned to painting is intricate, fascinating and gorgeous paired with Kevin’s patterned backgrounds. This is your reminder to set an alarm. ⏰ @kevin.brent.morris’ newest collection of bugs will be available tomorrow morning! Ten new works, all mounted inside a vintage frame that the artist sources himself.
Right on the tail of their @leatherology reveal, we have a new collection release with both @bekahworleyco and @kevin.brent.morris this week. Great timing, if you feel like you missed out on a bag (because they sold in MINUTES). First up, new creepy-crawlies in your inbox from Kevin along with the preview for Bekah’s Flower Show for Friday. A pop quiz for you floral fanatics—the bunch has Spanish Bells, Proteas and more. 🌹🌸🌺🌷🌻🌼🪻🪷
Now I want every leather bag of mine to be personalized. Being introduced to @leatherology, their beautiful collection and incredible leadership has been a true joy. They’re based in Texas but (of course) there’s a Des Moines tie—and I’m grateful for the opportunity to collaborate. The hand-painted bags sold out in minutes and the celebration dinner was memorable. Heavenly plates by @cateringbydoolittlefarm (thank you Aaron!), delicious wine from @wolfferwine and a table full of local, women creatives. The dream. And riding the high through the weekend. Now what’s the next gallery collaboration?
So pleased to announce the @leatherology collab is now live. It’s been a long time coming, and I know these artists have been eager to share about their custom design. Six artists and twelve bags, each hand-painted tote is completely original and part of a one-time collection. Thank you to our artists and the Leatherology team for making this fun idea become a reality. Original art to carry with you all day—now that’s cool.
Ten new beetles at the gallery next week. 🪲 @kevin.brent.morris hand-delivered this series last week from Kansas City and he told us there’s a fun surprise. Trying a new medium, half are painted in oil and half in acrylic. I’m blown away by how he changed mediums and to the viewer’s eye—you can’t even tell, it’s so seamless. Live next Wednesday, October 9, at 10am CT! P.S. He’s introducing some new creepy-crawly friends.
Okay, what’s your take? Spooky, gorgeous or a little bit of both? … Yeah, me too. @paige.barnes.dorsey creates these hand-sculpted and painted snakes out of her studio in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and explores the dichotomy of beauty and danger hand-in-hand—one never without the other. Traditional elements of fine china in the shape of a creature feared for a millenia represent polite society; and reminds us that often it’s not the garden snakes you should fear, it’s the ones sitting around the table at the garden party. Part of the newest show, this pair can be purchased separately or together at a discount.
Giving us our daily sparkle, @hapiart uses mixed media to add diamond-like and reflective elements to her work. And many of them are framed in an acrylic box which elevates their presence. Five new pieces now available! And a fun fact to know about Kristi—she was personally invited by the @kellyclarksonshow to decorate the studio’s green room. So you’ll spot her work on a star’s page from time-to-time!
This week we’re *finally* able to share the full details on these hand-painted @leatherology tote bags. All twelve will be available to purchase on Friday, but before then—the full preview will be in this week’s newsletter with everything you want to know. These artists went above and beyond in the ask to create something original—but iconic to their style. Their seamless transition from canvas to leather is incredible and speaks to their talent.
Grand in size and color, @nnnnnate’s wooden scribbles are certainly a statement. It’s fun to think about this type of piece hanging on a wall with color or wallpaper so that it peeks through those intentional gaps. And the edges are painted a different color than the front for a happy surprise. Two still available as part of the current show, Bold Movement!
Next up, as we choose one artist every day to feature from the latest show! @ettavee is based in Strasbourg, France, and created a special collection for us with painted butterflies and hand-sewn German glass beads. She also sent us a few abstract canvases with the vibrant, waterfall-like pattern—her most recognized style. Jessi’s work is full of joy and color. 🌈🦋✨
Now on the walls ✨ Bold Movement, full of energy and color. Open Saturday 10am - 4pm, stop in and say hi to Lily and see the new show! These @paige.barnes.dorsey snakes climbing up the wall are a must-see. A little eerie and absolutely beautiful, I love how these pieces invite the viewer to get closer.
From the walls into storage, it’s not goodbye forever. After every show we ship the sold pieces to their forever homes and we place the additional pieces into storage. But they never sit long, as we regularly pull out works from the back room outside of the current show. These @karinolah landscapes are a fan favorite and as space is made for what’s to come (tomorrow!) I know they’ll find good homes soon. We believe every work of art is made for someone—and we just have to find that person. #artgallery
The week leading up to a show is the busiest few days of the month. I hope we make it look easy, but the preparation is—whew—extensive. First, all artwork from the past show is taken down and carefully placed into storage and then the walls are patched and painted. Next, 40+ pieces of new art is unwrapped and installed. We planned all of the 2024 shows back in August of last year (and you better believe we just planned for 2025!) so this month’s show has been in the pipeline for a while. Which makes it all the more sweeter when it finally comes together on the walls. More than half the show has sold through presale (thank you so much) and we’re excited to share the complete collection with you this Friday. See you then!
Stagers know that art is an important piece to making a house feel like a home.🏡 If you’re local and stop by the @showtime_homes expo, you’ll spot a handful of gallery pieces. All on loan, these pieces are still available! And it’s so helpful to see how the piece shines in context. Thank you for the invitation, Kaylie and team!
And the formal secret is out. This week’s group show features six artists and you’ll see the sneak peeks here! The next few days will be full of patching, sanding, painting (and repeat), plus thoughtful curation and *mostly* a little bit of sweat. Presale will be emailed tomorrow morning, so hop on the list!
It’s the weekend, there’s a million and two reasons why I love these pieces, so I’m putting them here for you to enjoy. This upcoming week is packed with a @naybellamy_art release and a group show featuring @angelachrusciakiblehm, @nnnnnate, @paige.barnes.dorsey and more. I can’t wait to share about it!
The team’s top art picks for the week. 💫 We each were allowed two favorites (but it changes daily). It’s a privilege to sit with these beautiful pieces every day and advocate for our artists. They make it look easy to create such a masterpiece—but it’s far from it and their talent is special. And you can follow along to get a constant reminder how we think so. #artlover #artgallery
It’s been a journey, friends. Through a website glitch (thank you for your patience 🙏🏼), we released @jenniferallevato’s newest landscape collection, Outside the Lines II. And to no surprise, they sold out in seconds. Congratulations, Jennifer! But for all who missed out—there’s more! Three landscapes at a larger size are still available. Take a peek! And cheers to Friday—that happy hour cocktail will be extra welcomed today. #landscapeart #artgallery
Ready for the next announcement? They keep coming this week. Introducing our newest artist @naybellamy_art, based in Surrey, UK! She paints color-blocked stripes on vintage frames with whimsical florals overtop. Her pieces explore the marriage of contemporary and classic botanical painting styles. And guess what—her first collection at the gallery is released next week. The full preview to come!
This week’s second big announcement! 📣🎉 We’ve collaborated with @leatherology on an exclusive line of hand-painted leather tote bags by six of our artists. And you’ll see the lineup here! Each one turned out so beautifully—and it truly represents each artist’s style you’d normally see on a canvas. The collection of all 12 bags (two by each artist!) will be available to purchase through the gallery next month. Original artwork to carry around with you all day, I like the sound of that.
The layered waves, rolling clouds and blurry coastline. @karinolah’s seascapes have it all—and gets pretty darn close to the real thing. 🌊 When you get upclose, you can see her mixed media combo of paint and fabric. Part of the current show, 10+ scenes from Karin Olah are up to view! #mixedmedia #seascapeart
My wishlist is a long one. But with a 10% discount, it’s a great time to purchase some big pieces—it’s such a great savings. Here’s a few artists that create incredible, large-scale works that I love. This mixed media @taelor_fisher is somehow the perfect balance of rich color but still neutral enough to fit in any space. The floral pattern she created in this paint quilt (what I’m calling it) is so lovely. And because this work is painted on raw canvas, there’s a unique texture to it—a true one-of-a-kind. 48 hours left of the sale, hop on the website!
The gang’s all here—Rumi, Lachlan, Gabriel and Anders. @suzy.lindow creates these mixed media collages on paper and I think the personality she gives each one is so fun. To the portrait collectors out there, this one is the funky friend of the bunch (and knows it). Lachlan’s hair is fabulous, Anders looks like the tough guy and Rumi’s in a mood. So good. And if you have a friend with the name, please send it to them as a reminder of their portrait persona. 🎨😎 #portraitart #artgallery
One of my favorite things is to see artists from all over the world come together on our walls in our little art utopia in Des Moines. We represent 70+ artists with only a handful based here in Iowa. It’s a special thing to highlight both local artists and internationally-known artists in one place—our gallery! In this collection alone, you’ll find @emksnyder and @huntslonem from New York, @anee.rabbit.art from Massachusetts and @bethanymabeeart from Illinois. From the coast to the heart of the Midwest. ❤️ Through Labor Day, 10% off all art with code BYESUMMER. Enjoy the three-day weekend, friends!
Out of office ✌🏼 The gallery team is out this afternoon to celebrate the first part of the year and gear up for the last half. IYKYK to all my retail friends. We had our annual meeting this morning to plan shows for 2025—which is hard to believe. And we’re really excited about what’s to come. As always, a sincere thank you to our gallery fans and friends who wow us with their support for our small business and artists. We are grateful. And the best way to stay in the know for all upcoming shows is to join the newsletter. #artgallery
Behind every flawless piece of art, there’s the creative nitty-gritty. And it’s demonstrated perfectly with @emksnyder’s embroidered canvases. Crisp and linear to the viewer with the thoughtful process sketched and planned on the back. We all get a peek into Emily’s creative execution and that makes the piece meaningful—isn’t it so cool to see? This is your reminder to always check out the back of artwork to discover a new perspective.
The doors are closed today—but make a note to visit next Saturday! The landscape show is still on the walls for a few more weeks and the scenes really are captivating. It’s a special thing how through art you can experience and display all corners of the world right in the comfort of your own home. What cityscapes or countryside do you have framed on your wall? #artlovers #landscapeart
This time three years ago we were working with @louisvuitton project managers to place artwork in their brand new @hudsonyards store. It was a dream and very possibly the first real moment of imposter syndrome experienced. To all our nearby New York friends, stop in to see it when you get the chance—she’s a beautiful, intricate piece created with individually sewn strips of fabric on a handmade frame.
A big 👏🏼 applause 👏🏼 to @kevin.brent.morris for making the recent life change from part-time to full-time artist. It’s a creative leap, and we’re here to support him. Kevin’s beetles have become well-known and loved around here. If you’re a KBM beetle collector (or want to be), this is the last one available at the gallery. 🪲 #artcollector
The sweet moment here of a little girl very proudly wearing her Mary Jane shoes. @jaimemccarrierart has a special gift where she creates portraits that capture the essence of someone you know—a child, a friend, your younger self. Through the color combos and thoughtful outfit choices, they really tell a story that feels familiar.
Taking in the views at the gallery today. The newest group show, Sense of Place, features landscapes from four artists. These artworks create a feeling that you know the place depicted. Perhaps you have driven past that exact rolling hilltop by @ytterbergstudio or vacationed near that oceanside by @karinolah. It’s a sense of nostalgia in the open space before you.
It’s time for our annual landscape show. 🌤️🌳 A group show featuring the work of four artists from here in the Midwest to the East Coast. All different types of mediums and scenery, there’s a nostalgic view for everyone. Landscapes have the power to create an emotional connection between a time and place. Enjoy the show! #landscape #artgallery
Giving you one second peeks into our world. It’s such a joy and privilege to share the work of our artists on a daily basis. There’s never a shortage of content, my goodness. We could (and try to) talk nonstop about the talent on these gallery walls. We invite you to follow along to be inspired, collect art, support women creatives and take a scroll break. We’re here.✌🏼 #artgallery #artcollector #artlover
Every year we curate a landscape show, with a focus on beautiful scenery and a sense of place. And it opens this week! On Friday, August 16, new work from @anee.rabbit.art, @ytterbergstudio, @karinolah and @jimmynavarroart will be featured. One thing I love about Anee’s collection for this show is the color palette shift. She always works in neutrals, but these few have a soft pink glow. It’s really pretty. Presale was released today (send us a DM if you didn’t get it and want to!) and the full show will be shared on Friday.
Happy Birthday @tina.j.ehrlich -- these two photos are the perfect how it started to how it's going. On Tina's first week of work I said "what if we started a gallery?" I don't always know what I am doing but somehow I knew Tina was the perfect person to go on this journey with. She's the best and I am so thankful for her. Drop her a birthday note too. We love our birthdays around here. Xo-LL
Based in St. Louis, Missouri (only a few hours from the gallery!), artist @carriegillenstl released five new works yesterday. And it’s such a treat to be around them for a bit before they head to their forever homes. The process behind each one is so fascinating—she twists her fabric canvas from the back to create a “knotted” front. She then paints overtop the ripples. Carrie’s color palettes are always vibrant and a little funky. I love it so much. One still available—Beach Pics, 48 x 38 in.
Eight painted plates, one piece of art. And the install starts with a map. The way @desimonewayland paints full scenes on a plate arrangement is incredible. You can see where they create canvas “edges” with hard paint lines and the viewer is invited to imagine the scenery in the visual gaps between each plate. We don’t often install art puzzles, so it was a treat this week. And there’s one painted plate collection still available. 🖼️🧩
Big, big week with a @carriegillenstl release on Friday. It’s been over a year since we’ve had new work from her to share, and we have five new pieces! Her process is so interesting, how she first twists fabric canvas and paints overtop, followed by a custom frame. This is a peek at what’s to come. Set your alarm for this Friday, August 9, at 10am CT!
