about the artists

Karen Strohbeen and Bill Luchsinger are nationally recognized Iowa artists who live and create together on their 80-acre farm near Macksburg, Iowa. As pioneers of digital printmaking since 1970, they have spent decades blending photography, technology, and inspiration from the natural world into sculptures, photographs, and prints that are collected internationally.

Their shared passion for art and gardening is also reflected in The Perennial Gardener with Karen Strohbeen, the PBS series they produce from their farm, where the surrounding gardens often serve as the foundation for their creative work. Together, they were awarded the Garden Club of America's Eloise Payne Luquer Medal for special achievement in botany and continue to pursue both collaborative and individual artistic practices, making them two of Iowa's most accomplished contemporary artists.
