Art Meets Design: Poised in Plum Primary Bath

Hannah Jacobus • December 4, 2025

A blend of femininity, elegance, and calm creates this perfect serene master bathroom. It’s a queen’s haven designed for slow, luxurious moments to yourself and honestly, if this were my space? I’d live in that tub.

The Mood: Soft, Lavish, and Calm

This bathroom unfolds like a quiet feminine retreat... softly layered, artisan, and effortlessly elegant. The striking marble tub becomes the heart of the space, its marble-veins echo throughout the room’s palette of mauves, plums, and smokey blues. Pulling from Logan Ledford's “If We Are So Obsessed With Peace, Then Why Don't We Keep It?” these colors intentionally gather in a striking focus above the bathtub, working within one another. The tub and the artwork create the focal point nothing short of a statement. Because the wallpaper is an organic and rhythmic pattern, it creates a serene backdrop grounding the space, allowing the colors and materials to take center stage. Together, the palette bends richness with restraint, deep chocolate wood accents, soft lavender, cool periwinkle, bringing a sense of calm sophistication. This bathroom is not just designed for daily routines, but for lingering, unwinding, and feeling wrapped in luxury.

A Conversation Between Pattern and Art:

Logan Ledford’s painting sets the color palette for the room: glossy circles of plum, mauve, navy, smokey blue, and creamy white creates a sense of calming. The grid contrasts beautifully with the organic patterned Acanthus Stripe wallpaper, while the veined marble soaking tub echoes those hues as if the colors had melted and swirled into stone. In a space with an organic, rhythmic wallpaper, centering a single artwork creates a focal point without competing with the pattern. Logan Ledford's circle-patterned grid provides structure while maintaining a light, airy feel, adding texture to the smooth tiles and bathtub allowing the eye to guide across the room effortlessly. To complement this palette, I paired works by Emily Keating Snyder, Elisa Sheehan, and Kristi Kohut, whose subtle structures carry the same feminine, refined energy, echoing the plum and mauve tones while keeping the feeling serene and cohesive.

Bringing It All Together:

The color palette feels rich and welcoming, with deep chocolate, winey plum, dusty mauve, and soft periwinkle blue, balanced by warm brass fixtures and creamy off-white accents. Classic bamboo vanities bring a grounded, natural element that helps the space feel anchored and calm. This grounding allows the room to breathe and harmonize with the organic, textured striped wallpaper, giving the space a sense of rhythm and flow. Tailored sconces frame the vanity on both sides, offering lighting that is both decorative and practical, while an alabaster pendant overhead adds a touch of elegance and refinement. Mixing metals, from gold to silver, gives the room a curated, collected feel that’s deliberate but effortless. The combination of modern touches and warm natural elements creates a sanctuary that feels both luxurious and intimate—a place to sink in, exhale, and truly protect the quiet moments you work so hard to find.

Designer Tips:

Pro Tip #1: Prioritize what you genuinely love in the rooms where you decompress and recenter, whether that’s a favorite artwork, a color you love, or a pattern that makes you smile. Those personal “yes” pieces quietly signal safety and comfort to your brain, turning a pretty bathroom into a place where you can actually exhale.

Pro Tip #2: Let moody and feminine share the stage by pairing depth of color with softness of detail. Think inky walls with plum & blush-veined stone, or dark cabinetry with curved hardware and pleated sconce shades. The rich, shadowy tones bring drama; the gentle shapes, shimmer, and pattern keep it soft and romantic instead of heavy.
