Collector conversations: Anna P.

Tina Ehrlich • February 13, 2020

We recently chatted with a collector that purchased a Kevin Brent Morrisbeetle from the gallery and we circled back with her to talk about why she was drawn to the particular piece—meet Anna P. from San Francisco, CA! All paintings by Kevin—based in Kansas City—come with an elaborate, vintage frame he finds himself.

LL: Why is it important, to you, to have art in your space?

AP: I think having art around allows me to escape the more mundane moments of life. My job can be very literal and non-creative, so I like to bring beauty and perspective into my home. And it's pretty.

LL: What drew you to Kevin Brent Morris' artwork?

AP: I love that he took something from nature, a beetle, that I normally don't particularly like or find attractive and made me take a second look. He's able to capture beetle shells' sheen and make them look colorful.

LL: When did you start collecting original artwork?

AP: I've bought photography and maps, but this is my first painting.

LL: What would be in your ideal art collection? Or, what artists are on your collector’s “wish list”?

AP: I'd love to collect from female artists. I've been eyeing the gallery's Logan Ledford and Allison Jamespieces!
