FARES MICUE
Las Palmas, Spain
Fares Micue is a Spanish self-taught fine art and conceptual self-portrait photographer, originally from Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands.
She began her journey in photography in 2009, initially as a casual hobby aimed at capturing aesthetically pleasing images to share online, without delving deeply into the technical or artistic aspects. However, after six years of exploring photography informally, she came to recognize it as the ideal medium through which to express her thoughts, ideas, and unique perception of reality. This realization also allowed her to integrate her other passion—writing—into her creative work. From that point onward, she adopted a more deliberate and thoughtful approach to the artistic process, placing special emphasis on every component of the final image, including location, color palette, props, atmosphere, narrative, and symbolic meaning. The result is a body of work that is both visually captivating and conceptually rich.
“As a self-portrait artist, I draw inspiration from my environment, personal experiences, and personal growth to create striking conceptual imagery. My work is infused with symbolism—every element within my compositions is intentional and contributes to the overall message. Through the careful integration of these elements, I bring my ideas to life. I am an inherently optimistic person, and this outlook is often reflected in my photography, which conveys powerful messages of self-love, personal development, and empowerment. My aim is to inspire hope, encourage self-appreciation, and remind others to love, dream, and believe that anything is possible. My images frequently feature minimalistic backgrounds, vibrant colors, and recurring props such as flowers, plants, origami, and balloons. I aspire for each piece to be perceived as a complete story encapsulated within a single frame.”
Fares Micue’s work has been featured in a wide range of publications, including magazines and book covers. She has collaborated with esteemed interior designers to complement their curated spaces, and her artwork can be found in some of the world’s most prestigious hotels, such as the Mondrian Singapore Duxton and the Rosewood Villa Magna in Madrid, with a global presence extending from the United States to Australia. Her pieces are also part of the permanent collections of renowned cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean.
