Iowa artist opportunity: bus shelter artwork

Tina Ehrlich • August 31, 2020
Roosevelt Cultural District, Des Moines, Iowa

We’re inviting artists to submit an original design to be placed on a bus shelter within Des Moines’ Roosevelt Cultural District. There are two bus shelters available and one artist could be selected for both or an individual artist for each shelter. Artwork should illuminate the rich cultural tapestry of the neighborhood. The Roosevelt Cultural District put together the following potential inspiration for the shelters: whimsical, colorful, recreational activities for both the neighborhood and schools, diversity of individuals, geographical beauty with mature trees and flowers, connectivity—both as a gathering place for eating, shopping, the arts, and connecting neighborhoods. Designs may also include arches and bridges that are notable to the area. Learn more about the local district here.
