Is Your Home Ready for Holiday Hosting?

Liz Lidgett • November 21, 2023

The holidays are when many of us are hosting friends and family in our homes and we start thinking “is the house ready?” The most basic answer is “of course it is–the people who love you only care about you and not your home.” Does this very real and logical work on me though? Of course not. I feel pride in a home that reflects my style and feels thoughtful and intentional. I know many of you feel the same way. You want to be surrounded by the things that you love and want a home that shares that with the people you love. I try to only bring in items that are either useful or beautiful. Art certainly works within that beautiful category. If you are looking for the perfect “wow” moment for your home, here are some pieces that I would recommend depending on your style. I looked for pieces in a variety of styles and price ranges so everyone can find the piece your blank wall is missing.

Just a note on the above photo – this is my home and my own Katie Craig piece that I adore. If you, too, want to drape a wreath over art here’s my suggestion - use a few pieces of folded tissue paper and place them as a barrier between the art and the wreath. Use a ribbon to hang the wreath, I tied it to the wire on the back of the piece. I also picked a VERY lightweight wreath that would not press into the wreath. I love how it looks but I want to make sure to protect the art as well.

If you love playful quirk…

If you love both abstract and traditional work…

If you’re a sucker for a neutral…

If you love a glam moment…

If you love a cozy moment…

For the fashion obsessed…

For the coastal grandmas…

For those who love a bold moment…
