KATE M. BLOMQUIST
Los Angeles, California
Kate M. Blomquist (b. Milwaukee, WI) received an MFA from the Mason Gross School of Arts at Rutgers University and a BA in Visual Art from the University of Chicago. Her work has been exhibited at Mitte Projects, NYC; Regina Rex, NYC; SPRING/BREAK, NYC; and Woman Made Gallery, Chicago, IL, among others. She has attended residencies at Vermont Studio Center, SPACE on Ryder Farm, and the Tilleard Projects Art Residency in Lamu, Kenya. Kate's paintings are a study of light and color. They embrace and expand on slight shifting moments of beauty so often lost in day to day life, evoking feelings of longing, loss, and the transient quality of memory. Kate splits her time between Los Angeles, CA, and her family homestead in Carbon Cliff, Illinois.
