Liz at home: Hanging art on a bookcase
My family and I moved to a new home in April of this year, and although it’s only been a short two months that we have lived here, we are already running out of wall space for art. This seems to just be one of the things that comes with owning an art gallery, I fall in love with work as I unpackage it and hang it on the gallery wall. Over time, some pieces just stick with me, and I know they are meant to come home.
As I run out of wall space, I have started to become creative with where new pieces are hung. For me, just about nowhere is off limits. I am a true believe that you should learn the “rules” of design so that you can immediately learn how to break them. This is why, when I brought home a glorious new Roma Osowo piece to our collection, I felt the perfect place for it was on the bookshelves.
Over the last two months we have worked hard to create bookshelves that looked custom (but most certainly were not) and painted them a bright bold color. Roma’s energetic, colorful, and happy piece became the perfect compliment. Few pieces could standout from the bright color and books behind it, but this abstract piece was up for the job.
Lucky for you, Roma created two pieces in this series and one is still at the gallery. As much as I want to, I can’t bring every piece home. The colors, pattern, and texture compose a piece that continues to amaze and delight over time.
