BILL LUCHSINGER

Macksburg, Iowa

Bill Luchsinger is a renowned Midwest fine artist known for his pioneering work in digital printmaking and his innovative integration of art, nature, and technology. Beginning his career in 1970, Luchsinger—alongside his partner, Karen Strohbeen—helped establish digital printmaking as a respected art form and continues to explore new creative possibilities within the medium.

Luchsinger’s art reflects his deep connection to the natural world, merging his expertise in photography and digital processes with his passion for gardening. His sculptures, photographs, and prints on paper, canvas, and ceramic tile are held in residential and corporate collections worldwide.

Together with Strohbeen, Luchsinger produces the PBS program The Perennial Gardener with Karen Strohbeen, filmed on their 80-acre farm whose gardens often inspire their artistic vision.

Luchsinger earned his degree from Drake University and, with Strohbeen, received the Garden Club of America’s Eloise Payne Luquer Medal in 1996 for special achievement in the field of botany. He also serves as a Member at Large of the Garden Club of America and continues to produce his own artwork across multiple mediums.
