Sketchbook Series: Betsy Enzensberger
We asked Betsy what her preliminary process/sketching process looks like and she gave us a sweet peek into what being Betsy looks like day to day.
"Most of my work magically takes shape as I create. My inspiration has always been the resin itself, not anything else. Resin acts differently in different climates, so my projects are highly dependent on what type of day it is. For example, if it's a chilly day, I don’t choose to pour clear resin because too many bubbles will get trapped inside."

"My process changes greatly with the size of the sculpture. The mock-up shown is for a large sculpture for a themed restaurant. I was given color samples and images of the murals that were to be painted in the space. From there I created this mock up. This design was approved, but in the end, they requested an extra long melt and a deeper purple stick, resulting in the finished sculpture shown."

"I LOVE being given a challenge and each custom order is just that. I always learn something new. Then I use that new skill in future work."
I absolutely love being able to see into artist's plan for their work. Thank you Betsy for allowing us to see some of your process!
